What is Hybrid Flooring?

Hybrid floors combine the durability and strength of vinyl plank and the appealing look and feel of laminate. It comes in a wide range of designs and styles whilst still being affordable and durable.

What is the difference between laminate flooring and hybrid flooring?

Hybrid flooring typically consists of a rigid core made of limestone and polymer, with a design layer on top that can mimic the look of natural wood. Laminate flooring is usually made of high-density particle boards infused with resin. Hybrid is 100% waterproof. Laminate, however, we can say it is water resistant, but not totally waterproof. In the current market, the price of hybrid flooring is slightly higher than traditional laminate planks.

Can I use underlay with hybrid flooring?

Hybrid floors usually already have a pre-attached underlayment. Extra underlay is not recommended as it may create too much cushioning, which causes the floor to come apart through use over time. However, if you do need extra underlay to further dampen any sound, you can consider high-density acoustic underlay made from rubber or cork.
