What is Engineered Flooring?
Engineered Flooring is multi-layered flooring. An engineered board construction is made up of a solid timber top surface and ply or soft wood layered in opposing directions forming the base and core of the material to add dimensional stability.
What is the difference between engineered flooring and solid timber flooring?

---|---|---|
Composition | one piece of solid wood from top to bottom | a balanced construction, made up of multiple layers of wood pressed together. |

Installation | fix down installation | fix laid down, floating installation |
Advantages of Engineered Flooring
- Stability & Durability: Engineered flooring are much less likely to warp, move, or bow over time. The increased stability makes the flooring can often be installed as a ‘floating floor’ rather than nailed or glued down.
- Sustainability: Engineered flooring makes better use of limited hardwood species by using faster growing and more abundant species to form the core and base of the product, without sacrificing the floor’s longevity.
- Hardwearing Finishing: Since the modern-day finishing techniques, the prefinished engineered flooring have proven in many residential homes to be durable enough to last for many years with simple maintenance and without ever needing to be recoated.
- Long Lasting: Engineered wood flooring will last a long time if properly cared for and maintained. Most engineered flooring construction has a hardwood top layer that can be re-sanded and refinished if necessary, which is one of the remarkable and unique characteristics of a timber floor.
